36x24 acrylic, walnut ink on canvas
Roots exposed by repeated footsteps suggest that this path may be worth travelling. The idea of roots providing anchor points on which to find one’s way is what inspired this piece. I am particularly interested in the ancient ways of faith, the sacred myths that span across cultures, traditions and time. They point towards a larger story than the details of my here-and-now life.
I am far less certain about many things than I once was, yet, as I allow myself to stand still and consider this broader horizon, I take comfort in knowing that there are many who have gone before me who have lived largely and left a legacy of wisdom and grace.
